Grounded Mode in The Last of Us Part 2

For many purists and the more hardcore gamers, The Last of Us' Grounded Mode was seen as the way the game should be played. No Hud, no listen mode, the most brutal combat and scarce resources it tested even the most patient of survivors.

Many fans were upset at the lack of a Grounded Mode in the sequel. Perhaps Naughty Dog left it out as they wanted to attach a prestigious trophy to it and not perturb those after an easier platinum trophy.

Never fear as Naughty Dog have now announced that it is coming to The Last of Us Part 2, along with a permadeath mode... yay.

In what form Grounded Mode will take we do not know but it will be a treat I am sure.

The Last of Us: Ben Croft Gaming

The Last of Us by Bencroftgaming

I can recall the first time I saw Bencroftgaming's work, it was as the name would suggest, some shots of Lara coated heavily in action and emotion. From that moment I have been a follower of their content.

No matter what game they turn their attention to the shots continue to be an emotive journey and one that I am pleased to observe.

These shots of The Last of Us are no exception. Each captures that moment in time, the lighting adding to the depth and tension. To see more of Bencroftgaming's work, check out their Twitter here and Instagram here.

The Last of Us: VP Vibrancy

The Last of Us by VP Vibrancy

As I won't be getting the second instalment for some time I thought I would post four of my shots from my play-through of The Last of Us.

Naughty Dog
have been wonderful to virtual photographers and it is amazing to be able to take shots in older games. The Uncharted Trilogy release that was given to all PS Plus subscribers and then for free during lockdown was brilliant and The Last of Us is no exception.

It may not be the most diverse photo mode but there is plenty to take shots of and the game stretches across so many locations. I hope you enjoy the showcase week. If you have any shots of The Last of Us you would like to share, contact me and I shall get them up on the blog.

The Last of Us Part II Trailer

Now with its new release date confirmed and development of The Last of Us Part II complete, the launch will be on June 19, 2020. Above is the launch trailer for the horror epic. While below we have a few words from the games director.

"It’s a surreal feeling, to say the least. This project represents not only years of hard work and passion from everyone here at Naughty Dog, but the continuation of a journey that began with Ellie, Joel, and each of you about seven years ago. There have been some twists and turns, but we’re so lucky to have had you with us every step of the way. Your enthusiasm and support means so much to everyone here at the studio.

As we ramp up for this final stretch before The Last of Us Part II arrives in your hands, there’s still more we’re looking forward to sharing with you, beginning with the debut of our all-new story trailer that provides a brief look into the next chapter in Ellie and Joel’s story." -
